Have you ever been surprised, while staying at the seaside or in the mountains, when entering a 45-square-metre apartment and immediately realizing how well organized everything is, with everything you need right at hand? And have you ever felt that, at home, even with 200 square metres available, you are always missing something and never seem to have enough space?
This happens because when space is limited, you are forced to organize everything more efficiently and make the most of every centimetre.
Leaving aside how satisfying this can be, the same principle applies to servers.
For a customer whose technical cabinet was completely full and who was already resigned to facing the considerable expense of installing a larger cabinet, we built a system using a 1U Rack case. It fit perfectly into the remaining space and filled the cabinet to capacity.
The Challenge: Installing a Server in an Already Full Rack
When we showed the sample to the customer, they challenged us and warned: “Let’s see if you can build a server inside a Game Boy!!!”
[Small, yes—but with no compromises on performance…]
We won the challenge: we met all the requirements submitted by the technical department.
Power in a 1U Rack Format: Designing Without Compromise
When space inside an electrical panel or rack is limited, you need a solution that combines power, reliability and ease of integration. So, in the space of a “Game Boy”, we managed to fit:
- an Intel i9 processor;
- an Nvidia RTX Pro
- 4000 Blackwell graphics card;
- 3 LAN ports;
- 4 video outputs;
- a Type-C port;
components selected for professional, continuous operation.
We followed the same principle used in a small apartment: we selected components that would make the most of the limited space available.
Inside a 1U Rack case, we assembled a genuine industrial PC in a rack-mount format, designed for professional applications where operational continuity and performance make all the difference.
